The CoHabitat Network was proud to participate in the 13th World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, Azerbaijan, where community-led housing and cooperative solutions featured prominently in discussions on how to “House the World”. A key gathering space throughout the forum was the Habitat Village, a collaborative initiative bringing together civil society organisations, grassroots movements, researchers, and community leaders committed to advancing housing rights and more just, inclusive, and sustainable cities.
Several CoHabitat members contributed to sessions on community-led finance, cooperative housing, housing justice, and innovative funding mechanisms, sharing experiences from diverse regions and strengthening international partnerships. The Habitat Village also provided a valuable platform for exchange, networking, and showcasing community-led housing solutions from around the world.
This article will continue to grow as we collect stories, presentations, photos, and reflections from CoHabitat members who participated in WUF13. Did your organisation host a session, present a project, or take part in discussions during the forum? We invite you to share your news, reports, photos, and key takeaways so we can highlight the CoHabitat Network’s collective impact in Baku.
