Nine diverse housing initiatives from around the globe have been honoured with World Habitat Awards
The Awards, organised by World Habitat in partnership with UN-Habitat, are the world’s leading housing awards. Winners receive £10,000 and the opportunity to participate in international development projects.
Entries for the Awards were received from 55 countries, and the winners were selected after a nearly nine-month in-depth selection process by international housing experts. Nine diverse housing initiatives from around the globe have been honoured with World Habitat Awards. The winning projects offer proven solutions for housing affordability, ending homelessness, decarbonising housing, increasing climate resilience, and improving gender equity and social inclusion. All show real potential for transfer and scaling.
The Gold winners of the prestigious World Habitat Awards are a comprehensive training program in Tanzania that equips women with construction skills to build eco-friendly and dignified homes, and a community-led initiative in Hastings (UK) that enables residents of a low-income neighborhood to transform derelict buildings into secure, sustainable, and affordable homes and social hubs for everyone.
The Silver Awards were won by a housing cooperative in Buenos Aires that provides affordable, safe, and attractive homes to those on the lowest incomes and a project in Slovakia that provides permanent housing and comprehensive support services through Housing First and housing-led approaches.
Projects from Algeria, Australia, Austria, El Salvador, and Pakistan are the winners of the Bronze Awards!
Congratulations on this international recognition!
