The first cooperative housing project under the collective ownership model in Budapest

Cada semana, la Red CoHabitat comparte contigo un proyecto de vivienda colaborativa documentado en la base de datos cohabitat.io.

This collective house is run collectively, which practically means that decisions are made by all members together and the responsibilities are also shared among them.

These practices were familiar for most of the members, all of whom were ready to contribute the necessary time and financial means to make the project work.

To reach collective ownership as well was however a more difficult task: since there is no readily available financial channel for housing co-operatives in Hungary. Renouncing official credit sources, the attention of the collective turned towards its peers: through private loans, almost half of the purchase price was raised in only two weeks!

The affordable, but still relatively high quality living in this collective house is a direct consequence of the collective ownership and decision-making model, where everybody's opinion counts and many activities, such as cooking, renovation works or gardening are undertaken together.
