Right Of Use Cooperative Housing Forum in Barcelona
UpdatedHalf a thousand people meet in Barcelona to prepare a leap in scale for co-operative housing
The first Forum on Cooperative Housing in transfer of use took place in November 2022 in Barcelona.
With the slogan "The cooperative path to the right to housing", this event created a space for learning about experiences, showcasing good practices, addressing challenges in terms of financing, regulations and access to land for projects.
Over the course of the three days, more than 600 people from cooperative housing groups and projects from all over Catalonia and other parts of Spain took part in the different activities, as well as technical support teams and people with technical and political profiles from different public administrations.
The three days consisted of different workshops, talks, debates and spaces to strengthen the movement's networks. Aimed at projects, technical entities and public administrations, the meeting was organised by the Cooperative Housing Sector of the XES (Solidarity Economy Network of Catalonia), Habicoop (Federation of Housing Cooperatives of Catalonia) and the Housing Group of the REAS Network of Networks of Alternative and Solidarity Economy, with the support of Barcelona City Council and the Government of Catalonia.
