Focus on: Le Nid, a CLT in Belgium
UpdatedA CLT commited to provide affordable housing to low incomes families and a convivial community neighborhood
Every week, the CoHabitat Network introduces you to a collaborative housing project documented on the cohabitat.io database.
In Anderlecht, Belgium, seven families have become owners of their home, called Le Nid, thanks to the CLT model.
It represents Community Land Trust Brussels’s first pilot project, with the residential group having been formed in 2013. In September 2019, they finally moved into their new homes. At the beginning of the project, the residents formed the civil society entity “Le Nid” with CLTB. In this manner, they played a central role in the development throughout the process, particularly with regards to organizational, legal and architectural aspects.
They were also trained in the operation of the building as well as the management of the co-ownership. On the whole, the project consists of the transformation of a disused parish into a complex of seven dwellings, a community space and a garden (both of which are open to the inhabitants of the neighbourhood). The management of these spaces is carried out in collaboration with the neighbours.
