Civic Forum on Housing and Habitat Zambia (CFHHZ) is a non – governmental organisation (NGO) which was established in 2007.
Zambia, like many countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, is grappling with a huge housing deficit expected to reach 3,000,000 units by 2030 if it continues to be business as usually. Housing Poverty remains dominant among the marginalised groups and the rural poor.
In 2016, CFHHZ entered into a memorandum of understanding with the University of Zambia Technology Development and Advisory Unit (TDAU) to help the rural communities and urban poor attain knowledge and skills to build and also upgrade on their existing housing units. This will help towards housing supply of the desired housing units.
A thirty member Chadiza Housing Cooperative, created in 2015, has bought land for its members and has started housing construction. The Cooperative was trained by TDAU through the CFHHZ and intendes to help build each person a house.
